I started consulting to work with companies and individuals in a different way. I am modeling my practice like a law firm. Clients hire me for my knowledge and expertise, and then, will work with me, an individual, not an account executive who has a recruiter helps to augment staff with yet another professional.
Just like the Swiss Army Knife, I have many tools at my disposal, and I aim to use whatever I need to develop solutions for you to work and, ultimately, play better.
But… Who Am I?
This really is not an existential question. I am no “spring chicken” in the technology industry. I have over 28 years of experience as a software engineer and as a database architect. I also have about 3 years of experience in print and digital journalism in professional and academic environments.
I have worked with enterprise application platforms like Salesforce and Oracle Applications. While working with Oracle Applications, I have created many custom Forms and Reports. I have also created custom Apex applications.
I have been developing web applications and websites since 2008. My languages of choice are PHP, JavaScript, and CSS. With PHP, I love the Symfony, Yii, and Zend frameworks. I have worked with .NET Core. As for a content management framework, I use WordPress predominantly.
When developing user interfaces for the web, I use Bootstrap, ReactJS, and Angular.
I like to say that I think in SQL. I have realistically been working with databases since I was 13 years old, when Microsoft Access was introduced to the consumer market. In the professional world, I work with MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. When I am not thinking in SQL, I think in BSON documents. I am a very big fan and developer of solutions using MongoDB.
